Business Luncheon - Credit Card Fraud Liability
Chamber Quarterly Business Luncheon - Thursday, April 23 at 11:30 am
Are You Ready for EMV? EMV - which stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa - is a global standard for cards equipped with computer chips and the technology used to authenticate chip-card transactions. In the wake of numerous large-scale data breaches and increasing rates of counterfeit card fraud, U.S. card issuers are migrating to this new technology to protect consumers and reduce the costs of fraud.
Kelly Mullett, Card Program Manager, with MidCountry Bank will talk about EMV – What it is and why you need to know. There will be a fraud liability shift from the credit card issuers to the merchant occurring on October 1st. Kelly will address the need for businesses to be ready to accept EMV cards at the Point of Sale. Aaron Roberts from Elavon will also be on hand to address any questions or concerns from a vendor standpoint. If you process credit card payments you need to be aware of the upcoming changes.
